Just after midnight on the night the clocks turn back an hour, Jen is waiting for her 18-year-old son to come home. Then, strangely, she sees a man approach him in the dark street. And her son, her sweet child, takes out a knife and stabs the stranger. The man dies, and Todd is arrested.

The next morning, Jen wakes up expecting to have to face the unthinkable situation. But she soon finds out that, impossibly, it’s the day before. And then each day after she goes to sleep, it’s the day before that, and the day before that.

She has no idea how or why this is happening, but Jen becomes convinced that somewhere in the past days she is reliving lie the clues for all of it. Why Todd killed someone. Who the man was. What role her husband played in it. And if, somehow, she can undo it all once she finds the answers. Maybe she is being sent back to save her son, her husband, her family. What she learns is shocking.

Wrong Place Wrong Time is a gripping thriller novel. So many details are shared throughout the story as it goes back in time that all finally get pieced together. The big picture is devastating and heartbreaking. I could not put the book down; I had to see how the mystery was resolved, how everything fit. I wanted to know if and how this family could be healed. Gillian McAllister has crafted a fascinating book that’s a brilliant thriller, mystery and family drama. Highly recommend (except for the strong profanity).

Rated: High. Profanity includes 85 uses of strong language, around 25 instances of moderate profanity, a dozen uses of mild language, and about 40 instances of the name of Deity in vain. There are also a few uses of British (bl-) profanity. Sexual content includes mentions of a character being naked around the house and some references to a married couple having sex, but no details. There’s a brief reference to sexual content on video games. Violence includes a stabbing, with a lot of blood, and the threat of danger from a drug gang.
