Cassie Hobbes has a gift for profiling people. Her talent landed her a spot in an elite FBI program for teens with innate crime-solving abilities — and landed her into some harrowing situations. After barely escaping a confrontation with a killer obsessed with her mother’s murder, Cassie hopes she and the rest of the team can stick to solving cold cases from a distance.

But when victims of a brutal new serial killer start turning up, the Naturals are pulled into an active case that once again strikes too closer to home. This time, the killer is a perfect copycat of Dean’s incarcerated father. The only way to track him down and outsmart his brutal mind games is to force themselves deeper into the murderer’s psyche and delve into a past Dean would do anything to forget.

Killer Instinct begins shortly after where The Naturals left off with another edge-of-your-seat adventure. Readers can certainly expect more twists, another addictive plot, more character development, and a little more background regarding the Naturals and their pasts.

Overall, the writing is simple and addictive. It’s easy to get hooked and nearly impossible to put down at bedtime.

Rated: Moderate. There are around 7 uses of mild language. Sexual content includes vague uses of innuendo and one teen trying to instigate a game of strip poker. Like the first book, it’s all about the violence, including descriptions of what the killer does and how they think, as well as references to a character’s childhood abuse and trauma.
