When Miss Ginerva Delacourt finds herself thrown together with her grandaunt Regina’s grandson, Sir Anthony, on a trip from London to Bedford to check in on the older woman’s roses, neither she nor her new companion are thrilled. But no one says no to the dowager Duchess of Marcross, or her prize roses. So the two immediately set out on their way.
Unfortunately, nothing goes smoothly or according to plan. Thanks to a pair of thieves, Ginny and Sir Anthony end up stranded in the middle of the road without money or their carriage. Fortune smiles on them when they are rescued, but then circumstances force them to spend an entire fortnight with a silly young woman and her equally silly suitor, who happens to be a lord. Naturally, neither is happy about their new situation either, but it does afford them new opportunities to learn more about each other — and perhaps even form new and more positive impressions.
Those who aren’t devoted to Regency romances may find themselves a bit annoyed by the ups and downs of the plot and what can seem like some forced period-style dialogue, but those who do enjoy the genre will likely be satisfied with the light tale.
