*I read about a third of The Cruel Dark before figuring out it was going to be a “spicy” one. I was enjoying it (I do love a good gothic tale) but decided to set it aside.

Profanity includes 11 of strong language, around 10 instances of moderate profanity, 13 uses of mild language, and 5 instances of the name of Deity in vain. There are some brief “spicy” references and at least one detailed erotic sex scene. There are moments of peril.
