Few things are more satisfying and fun than a book club that just works. I was in one two decades ago that was composed of women who exercised at our local YMCA at the same time in the mornings. You could say it was a pretty random grouping, except that we happened to like to work out, and many of us had young children. We rotated hosting and presenting a few book options for everyone to choose from. We had good discussions about the books — which varied widely among genres and styles — and, of course, had tasty snacks and talked about our personal lives too. I miss that group. I’ve not been able to re-create or recapture that magic since.
