Kamran’s grandfather lies dead at the hand of Cyrus, ruler of the neighboring kingdom of Tulan. In the same night, Cyrus stole Alizeh away to Kamran’s homeland. Cyrus plans to marry her, vowing to give Alizeh everything she needs to become the Jinn queen and free her people from the half-lives they’ve been forced to endure under human rule. In return, when she assumes the throne, he will have finally fulfilled his own bargain with the devil.
Alizeh wants nothing to do with Cyrus’s deal. However, without a way to escape Tulan and with the fulfillment of her own destiny so tantalizingly close, she’ll have to decide whether she can set aside her emotions to become the queen her people need.
Kamran, meanwhile, is picking up the pieces of his kingdom. He’s faced betrayal at every turn, and no longer knows who to trust. All he knows is that he must go to Tulan to avenge his grandfather. He can only hope that Alizeh will be waiting for him there.
These Infinite Threads, book two in the This Woven Kingdom series, explores deeper into a world full of magic, Jinn, and warring royal families. And like This Woven Kingdom, These Infinite Threads hides echoes of another fairy tale: Beauty and the Beast.
Oddly enough, this book has more vibes than plot. There’s still an addictive quality to the writing along with plenty of angst and drama. As much as I loved the first book, though, a love triangle is solidly introduced in this story, with two relationships I worry border on toxic. Are these negative traits just nods to the beastly part of the fairy tale? Is there room for character growth in the future? I certainly hope so.
