In each book of the Relic Master series (which began with The Dark City) so far, keeper Galen and his scholar, Raffi, have had to go on a quest to find a valuable relic (or person, in the case of book two) that will help them to restore the Order to their planet, Anara. They have had to fight and elude the Watch, but they’ve also begun to encounter ancient evils created by Kest. In The Hidden Coronet, the pair rescue a fellow keeper from being executed by the Watch, and with his help, along with that of their old companions the Sekoi and Carys, they discover that the legend of Flain’s coronet might not only be real, but that it can stabilize the chaos that is occurring on Anara. They set off yet again to see if they can find this coronet.

Along the way, they battle the increasing power of the evil and powerful Margrave and wonder amongst themselves if one of their expanded group is a traitor.

This book intrigued me the most of all the series so far; the pieces are slowly starting to come together to point toward a possible conclusion to the series and an explanation for how these ancient relics — and the keepers — have such power. Again, I am eager to see how it all comes together.

Rated: Mild, for some mild violence and scary elements.
