Paul O’Rourke is a dentist. He’s single. He lives in New York City. His voice, as written by Joshua Ferris, is a bit annoying and particular but entertaining all the same.

And that’s all I know. I never got to get into the story because just 26 pages in, there were already seven completely gratuitous f-words and two vulgar sexual references, and it seemed their use would be consistent throughout the rest of the book. I decided I just didn’t want to read that high concentration of crudeness just in the name of style. So the book may be interesting and well written but I won’t find out.

Rated: DIRT. I didn’t invest any more reading time.
