The Goose Girl is the story of Andiordi-Kiladra Tailanna Isilee, who goes by Ani. Ani is the crown princess of Kildenree, with a gift for speaking to animals, geese in particular. Her father dies in a riding accident, leaving her the throne. After the funeral, however, Ani’s mother gives her throne to her younger brother and betrothes her to the crown prince in Bayern. Through a series of unfortunate events Ani ends up working in the palace where she should be queen. She works as a servant as she develops a plan to take back the throne that is rightfully hers. While working she makes new friends, grows up and learns what town life is like in Bayern.

The Goose Girl is the first book in the Books of Bayern series. The book is engaging, sweet and has characters you can enjoy.

  1. I’d like to also point out that at one point, just before the beginning of the climax, they tell a story/folk legend that has women convincing their husbands to fight by baring their bodies. The story is only a page long, and it doesn’t progress the ultimate plot, so you can skip it, but just be warned. In my copy, I took Post-its and just blocked out the whole story.

Otherwise, this is an amazing book! I definitely recommend it to everybody ever.
